Awarded For Service During the Operation Period. The need to prevent, deter and extinguish Viet Cong and North Vietnamese use of Laos to transport enemy personnel and equipment to South Vietnam required the Bravery and Courage of United States Air Force and Navy pilots and Personnel. This Operation succeeded in Destroying vast amounts of enemy resources and Thereby saving countless military and civilian lives.

Award Period: 14 December 1964 to 29 March 1973

Eligible Personnel: USAF and USN serving in Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and adjacent waters.
