Enemy concentrations surrounding the Saigon area prompted American commanders to attempt arresting the enemy buildup using joint U.S. and ARVN forces. This attempt failed because ARVN forces failed to both timely deploy and actively engage. America commanders were then forced to rely solely on U.S. forces to stem enemy incursions. Resulting U.S. only operations emaciated enemy formations and relieved pressure in the Saigon region. Afterwards, American commanders relinquished after-action patrol duties to the ARVN. US forces claimed 1,043 enemy casualties. Awarded For Service During the Operation Period.
